About Me
Hi there, my name’s Drew! I’m from a small town called Batesville in southeastern Indiana and moved to New York a few years ago with a lot of ambition, a love for music, and honestly, well… not much of a plan haha.
Music for me has always been one of the easiest ways to express what I’m feeling. I’m mostly self-taught on piano, and improvising is the part that has always felt the most natural to me. One of my favorite quotes is, “When words fail, music speaks,” and that’s pretty much what piano has always been for me. It’s a way of saying what I really want to say without having to use words. I love being able to sit down without knowing exactly what I’m going to play and just see where it goes.
At the center of everything is my Christian faith. Church is a big part of my routine and my community, and my faith really shapes the way I try to live, create, work, and treat the people around me. I definitely don’t have everything figured out, but following Jesus is the foundation underneath everything I do! 1 Corinthians 13 is one of those passages I always come back to—it’s a reminder that no matter what we accomplish or create, without love it doesn’t really mean much.
Family is also so huge for me. I’m really close with the people I love, and as much as I love New York and everything that comes with living here, getting back home, slowing down, and spending time with family is something I never want to lose.
Itsinus (it’s in us) really came out of all of that. Music has been tied to some of my favorite memories for as long as I can remember. Growing up, my friends and I would sit around playing guitar together, and so much of the music I love came from what I grew up hearing—classic rock, country, folk, artists like Lynyrd Skynyrd and Tom Petty, and songs that just felt honest and timeless. Music was never only something I listened to; it was something that brought people together. That’s a big part of what I want Itsinus to be too—music, people, faith, emotion, and being completely present in a moment. Something you can’t really rehearse or recreate exactly the same way twice...
